Midreshet Shalhevet High School for Girls, MSH is dedicated to achieving academic excellence in both Torah and General Studies. We inspire appreciation for the beauty of Torah through analytical, critical, and independent thinking. Our goal is to infuse our students with a lifelong love of learning, promote scholastic achievement, and foster personal growth. We prepare our students to achieve their dreams, become the leaders of tomorrow, and to confront the spiritual as well as the professional challenges of today’s modern society.
MSH is accredited by the Board of Regents of the State University of New York and by the Middle States Association of Secondary Schools. Our curriculum conforms to, or exceeds, the Board of Regents standards.
All students are required to take:
4 years of Intensive Judaic Studies
4 years of English
4 years of History
4 years of Hebrew Language
4 years of Physical Education
3 - 4 years of Math and Science. Seniors may elect either math or science.
3 years of Jewish History
2 - 3 years of Spanish
1 year of Zionism
1 year of Jewish Thought
1 year of Computer Coding
All students must take and pass the following Regents exams:
3 Math Regents
2 Science Regents
2 History Regents
1 English Regents
1 Hebrew Language Regents
In addition, the Spanish Regents/FLACS and a 3rd Science Regents are optional.
Starting in sophomore year, qualified students are encouraged to take Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Offerings vary by year, but include English Composition, English Literature, European History, U.S. History, U.S. Politics and Government, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Psychology, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Physics, and Art and 2-D Design. Students earning high scores on AP exams can earn college credits.
